19th Annual Charity Dinner

19th Annual Charity Dinner

After a season of constant highs which included a domestic treble, champions league participation and a 47 game unbeaten run in only Brendan Rodgers first season as Celtic boss, AICSC members had the chance to party like champions last weekend.

Last Saturday night saw Celtic supporters from all over Ireland and beyond,  descend on Citywest Hotel for the AICSC 19th Annual Charity Dinner and all in attendance were in fine form to give Brendan Rodgers, Scott Brown, Kieran Tierney and Stuart Armstrong accompanied by the SPFL Trophy, Scottish Cup and The League Cup a rapturous welcome. Also in attendance was Lisbon Lion Jim Craig along with the European Cup. Jim a long time friend and supporter of the AICSC was attending his 25th supporters event since January in what has been a hectic year amid celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Celtic’s famous victory in Lisbon in May 1967.

As always charity was very much to the fore and SOFT Ireland were this year’s beneficiary as nominated by AICSC member clubs. Alma Stanley Contact Coordinator and Pat Rooney Chairman were present on the night to collect a cheque for €4,000 on behalf of their charity.  You could hear a pin drop in the hall when Alma addressed the 400 strong crowd to outline the work they do and support they provide to families who’d kids are born with Patau’s Syndrome (Trisomy 13), Edwards’ Syndrome (Trisomy 18) and related chromosomal disorders.

Following a season which saw both players sweep the boards at awards ceremonies the length and breadth of Scotland it came as little surprise to anyone present when for a second year Kieran Tierney collected the AICSC Young Player of The Year and Scott Sinclair picked up the Player of The Year accolade.

The committee of The AICSC would like to thank everyone who attended the charity dinner and especially those who travelled long distances to join us. Our thanks also goes The Irish Daily Star who continue to support our event each year and for this we are very grateful. A special mention must also go to the businesses and supporters clubs who placed in the souvenir programme. We hoped everyone enjoyed their night and hope to see you all back again next year for what will be our 20th anniversary.

Treble Winner
